A dedicated civic leader and philanthropist, Kathleen has built a distinguished record of service across the arts, health, education and social welfare sectors in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.


Together with her husband, Andrew, she leads the McKenna Family Foundation, a private foundation focused on advancing health care, education, the arts, and political efforts. This work serves as the cornerstone of her philanthropic mission and reflects a deep personal commitment to creating lasting impact across multiple sectors.


Kathleen spent a decade serving on the National Committee for the Performing Arts at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She is also a member of the Cornerstone Council at the Trust for the National Mall and serves on the Executive Committee of the Arlington Women's Civic Alliance. Most recently, she joined the Dominion Guild, a women's organization dedicated to supporting charitable organizations across Northern Virginia. She is currently co-leading the launch of the Arlington Chapter of the Balance Project, a nonprofit with the goal of bringing modern childhood into balance with technology.


Professionally, Kathleen brings nearly a decade of experience at Bloomberg LP, where she held progressive leadership roles in business development before transitioning to consulting. Earlier in her career, she served as Deputy Press Secretary for the trade group America's Health Insurance Plans, as a Special Assistant to the CEO and Chairman of Corporate Executive Board, and as a Research and Communications Associate for Pennsylvania Governor and first Secretary of Homeland Security, Tom Ridge. Kathleen and her husband Andrew reside in Arlington, VA with their three sons and cavapoo, Ranger.
